Moscow : President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Karan Singh, has suggested that Russian cultural programme in India should focus on young Indians.
During a meeting with the Russian Culture Minister Alexander Sokolov, Singh – who is now in the Russian capital – said the programme “The Year of Russia in India” should include performances by the Bolshoi Theatre and modern Russian jazz orchestras.
Sokolov assured Singh that the programme would be “extensive”.
“We will bring both modern and traditional art to India, notably art exhibitions, theatre and other performances”, he said.
Sokolov said they had “discussed the future of filmmaking, because India has venerable traditions in that sphere”.
The two officials also talked about signing an agreement on a joint film production.
An agreement to hold the festival of Indian culture in Russia in 2009 will be signed during the visit.
