Warning to 12 Bhopal Central Jail officials for dereliction of duty

Bhopal: Inspections of jails in Madhya Pradesh are being made on regular basis and action is being taken against the officers and employees found negligent in their duties.

Madhya Pradesh Government Principal Secretary, Jails Dilip Mehra made a surprise inspection of Bhopal Central Jail recently. Additional Inspector General of Jails A.K. Khare accompanied him. He found 12 officers and employees negligent about their duties. He has issued warning letters to them against dereliction of duty. These letters would be attached to the annual character report of the concerning jail officials.

During his inspection of Bhopal Central Jail on September 24, the Principal Secretary has issued 38 letters to these 12 officials who include the Jail Superintendent P.D. Somkunwar; Jailer Ramkran Sharma, Deputy Jailers Santosh Gaur, Ramkrishna Choure, Prabhat Kumar Singh, Mrs. Samta Tiwari, P.K. Singh, Medical Officer Dr. K.K. Ledwani, Medical Officer Dr. M.R. Azad, Welfare Officer G.K. Kautub; Law Officer M.P. Singh and Chief Warder Bhaiyalal Verma.

The Principal Secretary found many shortcomings and negligence in various matters. These pertain to entry of under-trials in the history ticket, absence of officers, presence of prisoners in prohibited zone, checking of prisoners problems register, inadequate verification of material supplied, solution of prisoners’ problems, non-holding of regular parade of the under-trials, non-assignment of any work to a foreigner undergoing rigorous imprisonment, non-entry of health status of undertrials in the history ticket etc. ([email protected])
