Jaipur, (IANS) The death toll in the Ajmer shrine blast has increased to three with a 60-year-old man succumbing to his injuries at a hospital here, police said Monday.
Sayed Badul Hasan alias Badruddin had received critical injuries in the blast at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer Thursday, two days before Eid. He was referred to Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Hospital from Ajmer’s Jawahar Lal Nehru hospital. Badruddin died Sunday night, a police official said.
Two people were killed and 17 injured when a bomb exploded during Ramadan prayers Thursday evening inside the shrine at Ajmer, about 140 km from here. The dargah draws millions of Muslims and non-Muslims every year from India and abroad.
A police team has been sent to Madhya Pradesh after it found an unexploded bomb wrapped in newspapers published from the state.
The role of Syed Salim, one of the two men killed in the blast, is being probed and his family in Hyderabad is being questioned. Salim had made Ajmer his home nine years ago. He used to run a cosmetics shop near the shrine and is believed to have had links with Bangladeshis.
“Investigations are going in the right direction and the police have got some leads. Some arrests may be made soon,” said Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria.
