Chemical Ali, Saddam’s cousin whose real name is Ali Hassan al-Majid, was convicted of crimes against humanity in June and sentenced to die. An appeals court upheld his punishment in September.

Ali al-Dabbagh, the Iraqi government spokesman making an unusual appearance at the White House, was asked if Chemical Ali would be taken to the gallows soon.

“Yes, in the coming days the execution will come,” Al-Dabbagh said.
