India condemns Karachi blasts

New Delhi : India Friday strongly condemned the twin blasts that rocked the welcome rally for former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto and killed over 165 people in Karachi.

External affairs ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said: “We strongly condemn the terrorist attack in Karachi.”

He said it was “reprehensible that senior political figures are targeted in this way with such loss of innocent life”.

Calling for a united front against terrorists, Sarna noted that the “spectre of terrorism confronting our region requires strong and determined action by all our governments”.

The second meeting of a joint anti-terror mechanism of India and Pakistan will be held in New Delhi Monday.
