Addressing a press conference here at his residence, Durrani said Benazir Bhutto has nothing for the masses of Pakistan and she is returning without any programme and clear agenda for any destination.

The Minister said the politics of corruption has failed to motivate the people and seek the public support. He said, “Return of Benazir Bhutto to Pakistan, after eight years, will not have any impact on the national politics.”

The Information Minister said there was nothing new and constructive for the people of Pakistan in the press conference of Benazir Bhutto held in Dubai Wednesday.

Durrani said, “There was no positive message and real programme for the masses in the press conference addressed by Benazir Bhutto.”

He said Benazir Bhutto talked about her personal interest instead of talking about any concrete thing for the people.

The Minister said the politics of slogans and mere statements could not motivate the people now as political enviornment in Pakistan has changed due to the policies of the present government led by President General Pervez Musharraf.

He said people could not be befooled through the slogans which were raised in the past by the politicians who looted the national exchequer through corruption.

Durrani said return of Benazir Bhutto is not a political issue for the PML and its allies.

The Information Minister said after the continuity of policies in the eight years the people have become very conscious.

The Minister said, “The media is free, judiciary is independent and people are conscious, therefore they could not be misled by the slogans of the past politics of personal benefits.”

He said the Pakistan Peoples Party was responsible for snatching bread, employment and shelter and it could not give the people same things after coming into power for a third time.

The Minister said it is very strange that the politics of the those politicians who are talking about roti, kapra aur maqan (bread, clothing and shelter) end their politics at Surrey Palace.

“People are now much aware about her (Benazir) political designs. In reality, corrupt practices and Surray Palace scandal have buried her politics in utter darkness,” he said.

The Minister said Benazir will be answerable to people about her statements regarding Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan and the nuclear programme.

“What an irony that now she is talking about the Pakistani people whom she forgot when she was spending her days during eight years of self-exile in palaces,” the Minister said.

The Minister said when Benazir Bhutto left Pakistan eight years ago saying she wanted to escape cases of corruption and now suddenly she has decided to come back.

He said she remained outside the country only to avoid the corruption cases. “Benazir Bhutto made the people poor and then did not like to live with them and decided to go abroad,” he added.

Replying to a question, the Minister said only the workers of Pakistan Peoples Party from all over the country will welcome Benazir Bhutto at the airport but there will be no public there to greet her.

The Minister said the self-professed popularity of Benazir will be exposed within a couple of days when she will go to the public.

He said Benazir will be given protocol as former prime minister which is her right.
