Tehran : Tehran Tuesday praised the stance of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) head Mohammed ElBaradei in the ongoing nuclear dispute between the West and Iran.
“His stance was not a personal one but based on the results of numerous IAEA inspections showing Iran’s sincerity on solely following peaceful purposes,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said in the statement.
In an interview Sunday with US broadcaster CNN, ElBaradei said he saw no evidence of an “active” nuclear programme in Iran and further stressed that the nuclear issue with Iran could only be solved by negotiations.
While mentioning Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier by name, Hosseini also praised the international approach against the harsh US policies in the nuclear dispute and its fierce opposition to military options.
The spokesman added that the rational approaches reflected international opposition against “crisis-mongering US policies” and preference for dialogue and diplomacy to settle the Iranian nuclear dispute.
