Rs.5 mn looted from bank vehicle in Orissa

Bhubaneswar : A group of unidentified robers Wednesday looted Rs.5 million from a bank vehicle after drugging security men near a village in Orissa, the police said.

The vehicle was going from Rourkela to state capital Bhubaneswar when it was attacked at 11.45 a.m. near Sambalpur district’s Sukhapola village under the Charamal police station, some 300 km from here, inspector in charge of the local police station R.K. Mallick told IANS on telephone.

The six thieves, wearing the police uniform, stopped the vehicle and asked the five bank employees, including security men, to show legal documents for the vehicle.

They overpowered the employees who were trying to show them the documents. They took them in the vehicle to a nearby forest, drugged them and looted the money, he said.

The police rushed to the spot and were investigating the crime.
