Pakistan always opposes use of forse against Iran to revolve nuclear issue

Islamabad : Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that instead of using of force against Iran to resolve the nuclear issue, political and diplomatic channels should be considered to settle the issue.

He was addressing a dinner reception Friday hosted by him in honour of the visiting media delegation from Iran led by Ali Reza Malakian, Deputy Minister for Press and Information Affairs.

Mushahid Hussain Sayed said use of force could be counter productive.

“We condemn use of military might to resolve conflicts as it is creating gulf between Muslim world and the West.”

He said all issues should be resolved through political means and negotiations in a peaceful manner.

He said Pakistan’s parliament passed resolution to support Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme and condemned the use of force against Iran. He said attack on Iran would be dangerous.

Underlining Pakistan’s wholehearted commitment to the Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) Gas Pipeline project, he appreciated the support from Iran for the project.

He said President General Pervez Musharraf is committed to the project and expressed the hope that India will also extend its commitment to the project.

Appreciating Pakistan-Iran ties, he described them as a special relationship that drew strength from the abiding kinship of faith, culture and historical experience between the peoples of the two countries.

Mushahid said due to location of Pakistan, and as member of SAARC and SCO and other regional organizations along with Iran, India and Afghanistan, there has been great cooperation in various fields including energy and trade.

He said there has been very close and friendly relations between the two countries at people to people and government to government level.

Mushahid said exchange of delegations between the two countries would also helpful in enhancing the close ties and promote people to people contacts.

Ali Reza Malakian, thanking Chairman Senate Foreign Relations Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said Pakistan and Iran are enjoying cordial relations.
