Indian philosophers to attend Int’l congress of Vedanta

Washington : About 100 philosophers from India, the United States and Canada are assembling for a three day conference of the International Congress of Vedanta to be held at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio later this month.

Several delegates from India who will be attending the Congress between September 20 and 23 have been sponsored by the Indian Council for Philosophical Research and Kendriya Samskrita Samsthan.

Eminent philosophers and scientists who will attend the conference include Karl H Potter, Arvind Sharma, Stephen Phillips, E C G Sudarshan, Katherine Young, Subhash Kak and Chris Chapple.

K Ramakrishna Rao, Chairman, Indian Council for Philosophical Research will deliver the Keynote Address.

The themes selected for discussion in the Congress include Vedanta and Physics, Vedantic Epistemology, Vedanta, Ecology and Ethics, Contributions of Vedanta to World Philosophy, etc.

An interesting highlight of the Congress will be the Sanskrit-Medium Sessions, where papers would be presented in Sanskrit and all discussions must be held only in Sanskrit.

The International Congress of Vedanta was established in 1986 by Professor S S Rama Rao Pappu in the Department of Philosophy, Miami University of Ohio, in order to bring together scholars specialising in Indian Philosophies and Religions from all over the world for the study and exchange of ideas and to promote research.
