PM approves committee on Delhi-Gurgaon road links

New Delhi : Traffic jams and long waits while commuting between Delhi and its suburb Gurgaon may soon become history as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday set up a committee to coordinate development of road links between the two.

“The prime minister has approved the appointment of a high-level committee to coordinate the development of new road links between Delhi and Gurgaon,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The member secretary of the Planning Commission will chair the committee while its members will include the road transport and highways secretary, finance secretary, chief secretary (Delhi) and chief secretary (Haryana).

“The committee will facilitate development and establishment of new road links between Delhi and Gurgaon. It will be free to co-opt other secretaries as and when necessary,” the statement added.
