South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun and his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Il are scheduled to meet on Oct 2-4 in Pyongyang, the second-ever summit between the two countries.

“We will hold prior inspections thoroughly to ensure that the summit proceeds smoothly,” Lee Kwan-se told reporters before heading for Pyongyang. The team is to return to Seoul Friday.

Last month, North Korea suspended the summit, citing devastating floods that have killed some 600 people and destroyed large areas of farmland.
