Tehran : Experts from Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will hold talks about P-1 and P-2 centrifuges tomorrow.
According to an action plan signed by the two parties on August 26, Iran-IAEA talks on the remaining technical issues will be held from September 24-25. No official was however available to comment.
The UN nuclear agency delivered a list of remaining issues on August 31 which will be resolved in a specified timetable.
The next two days have been scheduled to remove ambiguity about the P-1 and P-2 centrifuges.
According to the work plan, the written responses to the agency’s questions will be followed up in another meeting in mid October.
The agency has predicted to close the case of P-1 and P-2 centrifuges until November and its questions focused on origins of contamination to enrichment at Tehran University’s Technical Faculty.
The agency also posed questions about Plutonium 210 and Gachin mine on September 15.
The talks between Iranian and the IAEA officials are going ahead while the IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei is under criticism by the US, French and British officials over settlement of remaining issues on Iranian nuclear program.
The western states are critical of separation of the remaining questions from the allegations they make against Iranian nuclear program and they are worried about step-by-step settlement of the dispute.
The initiative to resolve the remaining issues about Iranian nuclear program was put forward after three rounds of talks between top Iranian nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani and EU foreign policy and security chief Javier Solana in Madrid and Larijani’s negotiations with the IAEA chief in Vienna.
The two parties set a modality plan to settle the outstanding issues in less than 60 days and an agreement to that effect was signed by Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) for International Affairs Javad Vaeedi and Deputy IAEA
Director-General for the Safeguards Olli Heinonen on August 26.
The case of Plutonium and contamination in Karaj has been closed so far according to the work plan.
