Patna: Former Chairman of the Bihar Minorities Commission died on Sunday September 23rd here in Patna. He breathed his last at Hai Medical Research Institute where he was admitted for Kidney ailment and Jaundice.
He was buried in Khanqah Mujibia in Phulwari Sharif; his funeral prayers were lead by Sajjada-nashin of khanqah Maulana Syed Ayatullah.
In his condolence message Bihar Chief Minister Nitin Kumar said that Mr. Haroon Rahid was a famous politician, social worker, and strong literary column of Urdu literature. Former CM Mrs. Rabri Devi commended his work for the benefit of the minorities. Dr. Jagannath Mishra recalled his exemplary work in getting Urdu recongnized as the second official language of the state.
Haroon Rashid is survived by 5 sons and 3 daughters.
