According to Vishnubhai M. Patel, chairman and managing director, the Bina contract is the second after a 10-year mining contract valued at Rs.3.05 billion secured from Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd (GHCL), the soda ash manufacturing company, two years ago.

With the new Bina contract, the company is now poised to explore further business opportunities in mining.

The Bina project involves removal of soil overburden that occurs during excavation of the mine. The company hires equipment such as excavators, dumpers, drills, bulldozers, graders and water tankers for composite work. The work also involves blast-hole drilling, blasting, loading and transportation of broken rocks and soil.

Patel said between July-Sep this year the company has bagged three fresh contracts worth about Rs.3.6 billion for executing road projects from Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corp Ltd.

This includes a contract of Rs.1,620 million for construction of a new four-lane Agra bypass on National Highway 2 connecting National Highway 3 in Uttar Pradesh. This will be executed in a joint venture with JMC Projects (India) Ltd, another Gujarat-based company.
