Ahmedabad, Sep 27 (IANS) Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswamy arrived here Thursday to investigate the state’s fraudulent electoral list.
Two teams of the Election Commission have already visited Gujarat. The upshot of these visits was that an extensive survey done in July found that 285,000 voters in the electoral list were dead.
The Election Commission is also looking into the inclusion of voters who do not reside in Gujarat any more. There were also a large number of duplicate names that are being scrutinised.
Accompanied by state election officials, Gopalaswamy also had a meeting with the faculty of the Indian Institute of Management here. Sources said he would also interact with the students.
The chief election commissioner is expected to return to New Delhi Friday. He is scheduled to visit Gujarat again on Oct 4.
