Police officials said Mohammad Moin, a resident of Nirsa block of Dhanbad district, which is 270 km from Ranchi, his wife Mahrun Biwi and their two daughters were found unconscious in their house Wednesday.

Neighbours peeped inside the house when no member of the family was seen in the day and found them lying unconscious on the floor.

The neighbours informed the police who broke open the door of the house. The four were rushed to a hospital where Moin, his wife and their younger daughter were declared brought dead. The condition of the other daughter is serious.

Police have ruled out any possibility of murder as the door of the house was locked from inside. They suspect that the Sehri taken in the morning caused the deaths.

“The exact cause of death could be known from the post mortem examination report. The cause of death seems to have been food poisoning,” a police official said.
