Kurd-Turkish Combats Leave 10 Dead

Ankara : Armed clashes between the Turkish Army and members of the Kurdistan Workers Party, PKK, left at least 10 persons dead in the last 24 hours, the media in this capital reported on Tuesday.

According to Hurriyet daily, the victims are a captain, two officers, and seven PKK militants.

The combats were staged in Bestler-Dereler region, in the southwest Turkish province of Sirnak, when an Army unit clashed with a PKK group on Monday.

According to the source, another 10 soldiers were wounded and receive medical assistance in a military hospital of that southern province.

In the last week of February, the Turkish Army launched a trans-bordering offensive against alledge PKK positions settled in the north of Iraq, in which about 10,000 soldiers took part.
