Ranchi : At least 14 people, including 11 security personnel, were injured in a landmine blast by suspected Maoist rebels in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand Wednesday, the police said.
The incident took place near Banso village, about 130 km from the state capital here. Suspected rebels of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) detonated the landmine when security personnel on patrol in a jeep passed over a bridge.
The driver of the vehicle and 11 security personnel were injured along with two civilians who were also on the bridge, the police said.
The injured have been admitted to Vishnugarh hospital. The condition of three security personnel is said to be serious.
On Tuesday, security personnel killed eight Maoist rebels in Garwah district of the state.
Maoists are active in 18 of the 24 districts of Jharkhand.
