According to the EC Spokesperson Laxman Bhattarai, at the time of receiving recognition from EC, these organizations had proposed that they would deploy at least 93,245 observers across the country, reported The Kathmandu Post on Thursday.

“But now they failed to meet the proposed figure due to their own problems. So the EC does not expect the number of observers to total more than 63,000 to 64,000,” he added.

Similarly, 28 international organizations have assured the EC that they would deploy 856 foreign nationals as long-term and short-term observers during the election.

The EC has set Thursday as the dateline for issuing accreditation cards for national observers and Tuesday for international observers.

According to the EC, National Election Monitoring Alliance has deployed maximum 18,358 observers, whereas Humanitarian and Infrastructure Development Center has deployed minimum 6 observers.

Similarly, European Union is deploying the highest number — 125 international observers– whereas, International Crisis Group and Embassy of Finland are mobilizing one and two observers respectively.
