Coalition forces on Tuesday performed a search of compounds in the Kajaki district, targeting a Taliban leader conducting weapons facilitation activities in the area as they engaged with several insurgents wielding AK-47s and possessing explosives, the statement said.

“Additionally, Coalition forces detained four individuals with suspected links to a targeted Taliban leader and Taliban weapons facilitation operations,” it added.

Taliban outfits have yet to make any comments.

Conflicts and Taliban-related violence have left more than 300 people dead so far this year in war-torn Afghanistan, where Taliban militants recently have vowed to launch the “Spring offensive” to intensify their guerrilla-style attacks on national army and foreign troops.
