New Delhi : With the formation of newly elected government in Pakistan, New Delhi and Islamabad are working out dates to hold overdue meetings in coming weeks.
According to sources here, Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon is likely to visit Islamabad this month for a wrap meeting with his Pakistani counter-part on the fourth Composite Dialogue which was completed between both the countries in October last year.
This will be followed by Ministerial-level meeting which will be attended by the Indian External Affairs meeting Pranab Mukherjee and the new Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. These overdue meetings could not be held due to developments in Pakistan.
The review meetings will also set tone for the launch of fifth round of Composite Dialogue between both the countries. Eight subjects are covered under the dialogue including Kashmir , Siachen, Sir Creek, trade and Confidential Building Measures.
The Indian Petroleum Minister Murli Deora is also expected to visit Pakistan this month to iron out differences on the issue of transit fee with regards to Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
“I will visit Pakistan sometime this month to hold talks and hope to wrap up the issue of transit fee and related matters as soon as possible and sign a formal agreement to make the project happen,†a leading Indian daily while quoting him said.
The Indian Chapter of Pak-India Judicial Committee comprising retired judges will also visit Pakistan this month to visit Pakistani jails to meet Indian prisoners A meeting of judicial Committee which was held here on Feb. 26 decided that the Indian chapter of the Committee will visit jails in Pakistan in April, on dates agreed through diplomatic channels.
The Indian chapter of the Committee comprises Justice (Retd) Mr. Nagendra Rai, Justice (Retd) Mr. Amarjeet Choudhary, Justice (Retd) Mr. A.S. Gill and Justice (Retd) and Mr. M.A. Khan .
