“I call on the Israelis to take advantage of the international and regional efforts for calmness,” said Mushier al-Massri, a Hamas legislator.

Al-Massri added that at present Israel doesn’t want mutual, comprehensive and balanced truce, saying “they want calmness on the ground without any price in return.”

Israel ended a deadly incursion into Gaza Strip in early March. Egypt started since then meditation between Israel and the Palestinians to reach a state of quietness ending rocket attacks by Palestinians into Israel and the latter’s operations in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.

However, Israel often sends troops to border areas in Gaza Strip and clash with Palestinian fighters deployed there at night. It also continues detention raids in West Bank. For Hamas, these operations “prove that Israel has no true intentions for calmness.”

Al-Massri warned that tens of thousands of Zionists are endangered as a result of the military escalation, in which case, the “Palestinian resistance has open choices as long as the Israeli aggression goes on.”
