Addressing reporters here Thursday, United Democratic Front convenor P.P. Thankachen said the V.S. Achuthanandan government has failed to deliver and hence they have no other option but to protest.

“There is absolutely no collective responsibility between the ministers and also between the various allies of the LDF. Life has become miserable with prices shooting up,” said Thankachen.

“Corruption has reached newer heights. We will conduct a state-wide protest on that day to highlight the failures of the Achuthanandan government. This would be followed by a weeklong protest to highlight the failures of the government,” added Thankachen.

Achuthanandan’s government was sworn in with much fanfare May 18 2006. From the start, differences between the factions of the Communist Party of India-Marxist played spoil sport to the smooth functioning of the government, Thankachen said.
