Langkawi (Malaysia) : The Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) plans to attract more tourists from India to the Malaysian resort island through the promotion of the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) products.
Its tourism manager, Megat Shahrul Azman Abas, said the promotion would be carried out with the assistance of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) and hotels.
“They can entice many world-class companies from India to hold MICE events as well as post-meeting tours in Langkawi.
“Langkawi airport is conveniently linked from other cities. The island has excellent MICE facilities such as the Mahsuri Exhibition Hall which can accommodate 5,000 people as well as several five-star hotels,” he said here Wednesday.
Megat Shahrul Azman said CNBC-TV18 (India) had filmed a documentary on Langkawi recently.
“More than 200 members of the broadcasting network were involved in the documentary and its screening would help promote the island to viewers in India,” he said.
He also said that 53 Russian tour and travel agents arrived here Tuesday for a four-day visit which would also take them to the Langkawi Geopark.
