Kabul : At least six Taliban militants and one police officer were killed in a clash in southern Afghanistan, police said on Wednesday. The fighting took place in the volatile southern province of Helmand. Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Hussain Andiwal said the fighting erupted when the militants attacked a police post.
He said four Taliban and one police officer were killed in the ensuing clash that occured in Marja district of the province.
Separately, two Taliban on a motorbike were killed as they were attacked from air by NATO forces in Zabul province, local officials said.
Gulab Shah Alikhel, spokesman for the provincial government, said they were Taliban militants.
He said two civilians were injured in the attack.
