New Delhi : A city court Friday sent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer D.K. Thakur, who allegedly took a bribe of Rs.200,000 from the kin of an accused in a multi-million land scam case, to judicial custody till April 25.
CBI special judge I.K. Kochhar remanded Thakur to judicial custody till April 25.
The CBI arrested Thakur last month from Vasant Kunj while allegedly accepting the bribe from Kusum Sehgal, sister of Atul Vashist, an accused in the land scam case.
Sehgal March 26 lodged a complaint with the CBI alleging that Thakur demanded a bribe for facilitating release of her brother lodged in Tihar Jail along with alleged land scam kingpin Ashok Malhotra.
The complainant also alleged that following persistent calls and threats from the accused, a bribe of Rs.50,000 was paid to him.
The CBI officials recovered Rs.98,000 in cash and some documents pertaining to properties and investments from Thakur’s house.
In connivance with five Delhi Development Authority (DDA) officials, Malhotra is alleged to have fraudulently sold plots allotted to underprivileged people in the Dhirpur resettlement colony and Molarband area of the capital.
Malhotra was arrested in August last year outside a television news channel office in Noida but was granted bail by the Delhi High Court.
