Dubai hosting International Islamic Finance Forum today

Dubai : International Islamic Finance Forum (IIFF), is set to begin at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel here today. The five-day forum will host interactive workshops covering Islamic micro finance, retail banking, treasury management, accounting, alternative asset management, Sukuk structures and emerging Takaful development. Ahmed El-Shall, CFO of Dubai Bank, will be speaking at the event on the subject of Liquidity management challenges faced by Islamic banks. The forum will be attended by a number of important figures in the world of Islamic finance, including 2006 Nobel Peace Prize Winner Professor Muhammad Yunus, who will be addressing the topics of economic and social development and ethical financing and micro-financing.

El-Shall said “as a representative of Dubai Bank, I am proud to be participating in the prestigious IIFF. Our presentation will be looking at the central bank’s taskforce on liquidity management solutions for Islamic banks, and focusing on the solution proposed by the taskforce and approved by Shari’a scholars representing the Shariah boards of all UAE Islamic banks.”

“We will also be addressing the future steps that need to be taken to implement this solution,” he added. Abdulaziz Al-Muhairi, Dubai Bank’s CEO, said “we believe that our extensive experience in the area of Islamic finance and our status as a Shariah-compliant bank makes us eminently qualified to make a significant contribution to this forum in the area of Islamic alternatives to conventional banking.”
