ICL World through to World Series final

Hyderabad : The Indian Cricket League (ICL) World booked their place in the final of the ICL World Series Twenty20 Championship with a convincing six wicket victory over ICL Pakistan here.

The Chris Cairns-led World team will now face ICL India in the title clash.

ICL Pakistan were all out for 113 runs in 19.4 overs after skipper Inzamam ul-Haq elected to bat. In reply, ICL World finished with 117 in 17.4 overs losing only four wickets.

None of the Pakistani batsmen managed a big innings. Imran Farhat was the highest scorer with a quick fire 20 off 13 balls before Mathew Elliot snared him.

Opener Taufeeq Umar (19), Humayun Farhat (10) and Naved-ul Hasan (18) were the other Pakistani batsmen to have got double figures.

South African medium pacer Andrew Hall (3-22) and Australian left-arm spinner Elliot (3-17) were the main destructors of the Pakistani batting line-up.

The World gave a strong reply with Mathew Elliott (26) and Ian Harvey (52 not out) scoring 49 at nearly 10 runs per over. Elliot struck five boundaries off 26 balls while Harvey’s innings was studded with eight hits to the fence.

The strong opening combination gave no chances to the Pakistanis, and ICL World cruised along to victory in 17.4 overs.

Elliot was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.
