New Delhi : The Lok Sabha was suspended without conducting any business Tuesday when it resumed the day’s session at 11.30 a.m. following pandemonium over the issue of price rise.
The lower house of parliament was earlier adjourned at 11.10 a.m. after Samajwadi Party MPs entered the well of the house, raising slogans highlighting the failure of the government in curbing prise rise. Other opposition MPs expressed solidarity with them.
Unruly scenes ensued when the house met again at 11.30.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee repeatedly requested the agitating MPs to allow the house to function.
“The matter is already listed for discussion. Make your observations during the debate,” he said.
However, the MPs did not pay any heed to his requests and Chatterjee was forced to adjourn the house for the day.
Earlier, Prime Minster Manmohan Singh had introduced the newly inducted ministers – M.S. Gill, V. Narayansamy, Satish Bagrodia, Raghunath Jha, Rameshwar Oraon, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Jitin Prasada. Gill has been made minister of state with independent charge, while the rest are ministers of state.
