In a note on the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s website, official spokeswoman Jiang Yu said China strongly condemns Jack Cafferty’s malicious remarks against the Chinese people, during the program dedicated to the course of the Olympic torch through San Francisco.

Among other things, the commentator stated the US imports rubbish from China, with lead paint and poisoned food for pets and, he said, they are the same crooks as they have been for 50 years.

Such calumnies, Yu noted, are a serious violation of journalism ethics, and attempt against the conscience of a normal human being, reflecting arrogance, ignorance, and hostility.

His remarks have stirred up indignation among Chinese worldwide, and have been condemned by lovers of justice in the world, she stressed.

Also, the Association of Legal Chinese Immigrants in the US sent an open letter to CNN demanding to take measures against Jack Cafferty.
