Citibank chosen official partner of DLF-IPL

Mumbai : The DLF Indian Premier League (IPL) Friday announced that Citibank has been chosen the official bank of the cricket extravaganza. The deal was signed for five years.

Lalit Modi, chairman and commissioner of DLF-IPL, said: “It’s a mutually beneficial agreement and the association of Citibank with IPL proves the fact that event is here to stay.”

Sanjay Nayar, CEO of Citibank India said: “We believe this partnership shares many common ideals, including those of innovation and of bringing our services to a broad customer audience. With its unique format and significant global appeal, there is no doubt the DLF-IPL will be a success and a true cricket extravaganza.”

Earlier, leading sports broadcaster Sony Max and World Sport Group had bagged DLF-IPL’s global media and production rights for $1.03 billion ($25.75 million). DLF Ltd, India’s leading real estate firm, is the league’s title sponsor, while Hero Honda won the co-sponsorship rights for the cricket extravaganza.

The inaugural season of the DLF-IPL will showcase 59 matches providing broadcasters and in-stadia spectators with 177 hours of live family entertainment.
