Iranian boat seized off Gujarat coast

Jamnagar : For the first time, the Indian Coast Guard have seized an Iranian fishing boat off the Gujarat coast, it was announced Sunday.

The Iranian boat, with 19 onboard, was fishing illegally in the Indian waters and seized 127 nautical miles from the Dwaraka lighthouse in Gujarat Saturday at 7 p.m.

The commander of the coast guard ship `Sangram’ filed a complaint at Okha police station.

Mohd Siddique was the captain of the Iranian ship. All those on board the seized vessel have been handed over to Okha police.

So far, only Pakistani boats had been caught fishing illegally off the Indian coast.
