Dhaka : American financial giant the Citibank, N.A. in Bangladesh has teamed up with the Bangladesh Post Office (BPO) to make easy payments for its clients in Bangladesh through thousands of post offices across the country.
The partnership with the BPO is set to create a new chapter in the history of financial management in Bangladesh, said Mamun Rashid, Citi country officer in Bangladesh, at a function arranged in capital Dhaka Sunday to sign an agreement in this connection.
“We have presence in Bangladesh since 1987 and today we are furthering our commitment by expanding our network with the assistance of BPO”, he added.
BPO director general Mobassher ur Rahman said the deal with Citi is part of the series of reforms his department has undertaken to make full utilization of all the 10,000 post offices across the country.
The correspondent network arrangement with the Citibank, N.A. Bangladesh will help Bangladeshi efforts in modernization of services of the post offices, he said on the occasion.
Citi, the leading global financial services company, has some 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 100 nations, providing consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services.
