Jakarta : The South Jakarta district court in Indonesia on Monday punished the most wanted terrorist leader Abu Dujana to 15 years imprisonment, and banned the Southeast Asia militant network of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) from operating in the country.
“The judge panel decides to sentence Abu Dujana alias Ainul Bahri to 15 years,” Judge Wahono, as saying in the court session here, adding that the JI organization is declared as a banned-organization.
Quoting the judge, China’s XINHUA news agency reported Monday that Dujana was found guilty of possessing explosives and weapons, which was against the country’s law.
Besides, he also helped hide terrorist fellows and supported their actions, said Wahono.
The 38-year-old Abu Dujana was arrested at the middle of last year in Banyuwangi of Central Java province.
Dujana was appointed as the secretary of the JI in 2002, according to the police. He was also the head of military wing of the militant group in the region, the police said.
The police said that Dujana gave protection and provided a hideout for the fugitive terrorist-coordinator in Indonesian Noerdin Mohammad Top.
Dujana was involved in Bali bombing first in 2002, sectarian clashes in Poso of Central Sulawesi six years ago, according to the police.
