Participants in Iraq”s neighbors conf. start closed-door session

Kuwait : Delegations participating in the Third Expanded Ministerial Conference of the Neighboring Countries of Iraq convened for a closed-door session on Tuesday to discuss means to help the country overcome security-related problems and back the political process.

The session comes after the conference was inaugurated by His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki and UN Undersecretary General for Political Affairs B. Lynn Pascoe also addressed the conferees.

Three main topics are on the agenda: Iraq security, debt cuts, and raising diplomatic representation of Arab states in Baghdad.

A luncheon is scheduled to be held after the session, and a joint press conference will being together Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari later today, marking the end of the conference.
