New York : Hillary Clinton escaped another embarassment in Pennsylvania with scoring 55 percent of the votes from 84 percent counted.
She is well behind Democratic contender Barak Obama in terms of the delegates garnered so far across the United States.
She said “the tide is turning” after her victory in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania.
She had won 55 percent of the vote compared to Barack Obama’s 45 percent, with 84 percent of the vote counted.
Speaking in Philadelphia, Mrs Clinton told her supporters:
“Because of you, the tide is turning.”
Addressing a cheering crowd she said: “Some counted me out and said to drop out.
“But the American people don’t quit. And they deserve a president who doesn’t quit either.”
Mrs Clinton, whose campaign is in debt, appealed to her supporters to donate more money.
“Now, we can only keep winning if we can keep competing with an opponent who outspends us so massively, so I hope you’ll go to HillaryClinton.com and show your support tonight, because the future of this campaign is in your hands.”
The Democratic race now moves on to contests on May 6 in North Carolina, where Obama is favoured, and Indiana.
