Second Arab Conference on intellectual property to kick off Saturday

Cairo : The Arab League will play host on Saturday to the Second Arab Regional Conference on the Teaching of Intellectual Property Law in the Arab World.

The conference is being co-organized by the league’s IP unit, the Arab Lawyers Union (ALU), the IP Regional Institute of Egypt’s Holwan University in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Cairo-based league said in a statement on Friday.

The event synchronizes with the World Intellectual Property Day that falls on April 16. The day, marking the establishment of WIPO in 1970, pays tribute to the innovators and creators who contributed to protection of the IP rights.

The conference will attract dozens of prominent Arab scholars and experts in the field of IP rights, the statement pointed out.It will mull the latest achievements and innovations made by Arab IP scholars and honor the creative innovators. It will also review the progress made towards implementation of relevant international documents especially those relating to the IP applications in the pharmaceutical and digital industries, the statement added.
