London : A magazine aimed at the lucrative highly skilled expatriate Indian market has been honoured by one of Britain’s largest media forums.
How-Do media network selected Asian Lite, published by New Asian Media Ltd and edited by Buddhdev Pandya, MBE, as one of the eight best magazines in the Manchester region.
The award was presented at a function at the Manchester United Stadium at Old Trafford Thursday.
Asian Lite was the only community title selected for the award category from over 180 entries, and Pandya said it was the perfect birthday present for the magazine which completes its first year in production next month.
“Manchester is the Mecca of modern journalism because here is where (the Guardian founder) C.P. Scott coined his famous quote – ‘facts are sacred and comment is free’ – which sums up the essence of journalism,” Asian Lite managing director Anasuddin Azeez said.
The award committee considered several factors including growth of the company, reversing decline, job creation, financial performance, industry accolades, innovation, staff development and leadership.
Asian Lite is the only journal in the British market for professional British-Asians, particularly highly skilled migrants and business people from India.
Within a year, it has become the media partner of two major organisations representing Asian professionals in Britain – the Asian Business Development Network (ABDN) and British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO).
Asian Lite is also the first British Asian media product to introduce Internet television by using the spread of broadband.
