Candidate Dashti says to focus on countering corruption

Kuwait : Third constituency candidate Dr. Rola Dashti said the current phase in Kuwait requires effort to combat corruption, noting laws must be implemented without exception regardless of who is concerned.

In a seminar held Saturday evening under the title “We can”, inaugurating her campaign HQ in Jabriyah, Dashti said the current challenge before the Kuwaiti people is to counter those who try to defeat the society’s spirit and solidarity and to show them that Kuwaiti citizens are willing to sacrifice all for the sake of their homeland.

Dashti warned form falling prey to frustration, noting that people’s eagerness for change can make all the difference.

She recalled that Kuwait used to be called “pearl of the Gulf” and said it is Kuwaitis’ responsibility to restore such status so that their country may be called “pearl of the Middle East.” Dashti promised to present well-calculated and thorough studies that are up to the national responsibility inherent in the post of an MP, aiming at improving the living standards of Kuwaiti citizens, increasing job opportunities for the young, improving education and health services and housing care, and revamping and developing the state’s infrastructure.

She also said she is to focus on women’s rights and and efforts to boost transparency and counter corruption.

The third constituency comprises 15 residential areas with 58,674 voters, including 33,056 women.
