Baghdad : Two roadside bombs detonated coordinately near an Iraqi Army foot-patrol in western Baghdad on Sunday, killing an officer and wounding four of his soldiers, an Interior Ministry source said.
The attack took place around 7 a.m. (0400 GMT) when the two roadside bombs went off in a quick succession near the foot-patrol in the 14th Ramadan Street in Mansour district, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Two civilians were also wounded by the blasts along with damaging several nearby shops and buildings, he said.
Violence continues in Baghdad despite the relative lull of violence across the war-torn country, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials.
