New Delhi: The Arts and Culture Department of Delhi government organized a two-day seminar on ‘Language, Literature and Culture’ at Ghalib Academy in the capital where in several papers dealing with the theme were presented.
Rashid Anwar Rashid in his paper on ‘Common Culture and Contemporary Urdu Poetry’ argued that the representation of composite culture in Urdu verse is rather satisfactory. Zuber Rizvi presented his paper on ‘Cultural Influences on Fine Arts’. The paper took audience through the civilization of Sindh Valley, Babel and Ninva. He made logical references to Indian civilization spread over six thousand years and, then, passing through Aryan and Dravidian civilizations concluded on contemporary Indian culture. He said assimilation of common culture has been first priority of Urdu language and literature in which it has been successful. The topic of Dr. Khusro Mateen’s paper was ‘Harmony and Indian Music.’
