Bhopal : A journalist of a vernacular daily was shot dead Friday in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa town, the police said.
Deepak Mishra, who was working as the chief of bureau of a leading Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar which is published from Jabalpur, was going in a car with some unidentified people when gunshots were heard near Rewa bus stop.
“It appears that Mishra had some quarrel with them and they shot and killed him. After that they drove the car for over a km before abandoning it and fleeing,” Rewa’s Superintendent of Police Shahid Ansar told IANS.
“Mishra received gunshot wounds on his neck,” Ansar said adding that the police have sealed the area, registered a case of murder and are looking for the assailants.
