Kabul : Two separate roadside bombings in eastern Afghanistan killed five soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force and one civilian on Friday, said an ISAF statement.
Four ISAF soldiers and one civilian died following an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) strike in Kunar province, while the other roadside bombing left one ISAF soldier dead in Khost province, the statement said.
However, it did not disclose any further details about the two incidents or the nationalities of those ill-fated soldiers.
Earlier, five Afghan police were killed, two others were wounded while their patrolling vehicle hit roadside mines Thursdaynight in the Panj Wayi district of southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, Bismillah Khan, the deputy police chief of Panj Wayi district told Xinhua.
Meanwhile, Qari Yusuf Ahmadi, the purported spokesman of Taliban militants claimed responsibility for the attack.
Afghanistan has witnessed the surge of Taliban attacks on international and Afghan troops during past weeks when the anti-government militants continue to demonstrate their strength through suicide and roadside bombings.
Escalating insurgency and violent incidents have left around 2,500 people dead since January this year in the war-torn country.
