Kathmandu : The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) has tabled a proposal for a common minimum program to form and operate the next government at the 25-party meeting, local newspaper The Kathmandu Post reported on Sunday.
In the meeting held at the CPN-M parliamentary party office in the Nepali capital of Kathmandu on Saturday, the largest party in the Constituent Assembly (CA) presented, to the other 24 CA parties, its program for the new government formation which has been divided into five parts.
However, the other parties said that they will respond only after carrying out a detailed study of the proposal.
The CPN-M floated their agenda in order to maintain national unity, implementation of a federal democratic republic, state restructuring, lasting peace and guarantee of peace and security, immediate relief package, reconstruction and revolutionary reforms and socio-economic transformation.
“We have drafted our proposal with an aim to address the forward taking changes in writing a new constitution, to socio-economic transformation and to take the peace process to a logical end,” said CPN-M spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, adding, “we call it the best of all.”
Mahara said that they have distributed proposal drafts to the other parties.
Earlier on Friday, the CPN-M had decided to take concrete initiatives for forming the government through presenting a consensus concept paper that included common policy and program at the meeting of the 25 CA parties.
Following President Ram Baran Yadav’s call on last Tuesday to form a national consensus government, the CPN-M, as the largest party in the CA, intensified initiatives to form the consensus government.
