Surat : The unearthing of 24 bombs here has not managed to strike fear in the hearts of the diamond city’s residents, Police Commissioner R.M.S. Brar claimed Monday.
“There was never any breach of peace after the recovery of bombs here. There is no fear and people are moving about normally although the city is still on high alert,” Brar told IANS.
On Sunday, yet another bomb was found in the posh Atwalines area, taking the number of bombs found in the city since the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts to 24.
“If the four bombs found in the cars were to be taken into account, the total would be 28,” Brar said.
He added that the bomb found Sunday was placed along with those recovered earlier, none of which threatened to explode. Apparently the terrorists who had planted the explosives had used faulty integrated circuits.
“Surat continues to be on high alert and investigations are going on. However, there is neither fear or anxiety among the residents. People are enjoying the sea,” said District Collector Dilipbhai Rawal.
