New Delhi : A Delhi Police sub-inspector has been arrested after he was caught on camera asking a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a Blueline bus driver and conductor to put aside a complaint against them, officials said Tuesday.
The anti-corruption department of Delhi Police arrested sub-inspector Nand Kishore Sunday for allegedly demanding a bribe from driver Jitender and conductor Ajay Kumar of the Blueline bus plying on route 146 between Shalimar Bagh and Central Secretariat.
Kishore, posted at the Ashok Vihar police station, Saturday received a complaint against them after they had an altercation with a group of girls in the bus. Kishore was asking them to pay Rs.20,000 to cover up the case.
But the Blueline bus owner carried out a ‘sting operation’ and produced a CD of video record before the anti-corruption officials.
“Kishore demanded Rs.20,000 from the driver, and asked him to inform the bus-owner to arrange the money to get away with police investigations. But the bus-owner caught him on camera,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Anti-Corruption) N. Dilip Kumar.
