Damascus : Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Abdullah al-Dardari said the government’s priority was to offer best services for the citizens to ease material burdens and cut down the time needed to carry out paperwork.
Opening the first e-government Service Center at the telephone exchange building of al-Qadam in Damascus, Mr. Dardari said the Center would secure quicker and a more active mechanism in executing routine procedures regarding import licenses, industrial and commercial registry as a fist step.
He added that such service centers would be available across Syria in the future in parallel with the development in the field of informatics infrastructure and administrative reforms.
Minister of Communication and Technology Dr. Imad al-Sabouni said the Service Center was set up as part of an EU-funded project to modernise sate sectors, describing the Center as a first step towards the e-government.
He added that within 16 months from now an experimental model of an electronic portal on the internet could be brought about as a follow-up procedure in the performance of the e-government.
