CPI-M activist attacked with swords in Kerala

Kannur : An activist of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) was seriously injured Tuesday when he was attacked with swords at Pappinissery village near here. The CPI-M alleged that National Democratic Front (NDF), a Muslim outfit, was behind the attack.

According to the police, CPI-M worker K.V. Shiju, an employee of an automobile workshop, was attacked at his workplace.

“No one has been arrested yet. We could not record the statement of the victim as he was admitted to the intensive care unit,” a police official said.

Tension has been prevailing at Pappinissery after two people were injured Monday in clashes between CPI-M and NDF activists.
