New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Tuesday called for installing fire-safety appliances in buildings — and urged people to be calm when a fire breaks out.
Dikshit made the remarks after inaugurating two new fire stations at Jawala Heri and Paschim Vihar areas.
The fire station at Paschim Vihar has been constructed at a cost of Rs.26.8 million. The one at Jawala Heri market cost Rs.14.9 million.
“The government is committed to providing comprehensive fire safety coverage in the capital. Hence, it has planned the commissioning of more fire stations,” she said.
The Delhi Fire Service has 45 fire stations. Fire more will come up this months at Shastri Park, Mongolpuri, Tigri Kalan, Tahirpur and Sarita Vihar areas.
